DIY: Do-It-Yourself Christian Louboutin Tape Dispenser
So I got inspired by this post on ThePurseForum and decided to follow suit right then and there.
I went straight to Amazon and the Black Stiletto Shoe Magic Tape Dispenser by Scott was on sale for $5.05 (I ordered it Saturday night and it arrived Tuesday morning, thanks Amazon Prime!) - it's now down to $4.80! Get it while it's hot!
Line up all your art materials:
- Red Paint: Acrylic or Oil (or Red Nail Polish)
- Paintbrush
- Tissues
- Paint Sealer (or Clear Nail Polish)
The tricky part is the heel and the angled notch because the clear round base of the heel gets in the way of the brush. I couldn't get a good angle with any sized brush, so I was forced to make horizontal strokes on the heel itself, whilst making vertical lines down the rest of the "outsole." After a few coats, I just brushed over the horizontal lines with the best vertical ones I could make to blend it all and make the paint lines as smooth as possible. The good thing about the acrylic is that if you paint "outside the lines," you can easily wipe or scratch the paint from the side of the "shoe" until you get perfect edges for the red sole. Just play around and have fun!
If you do choose to go with acrylic paint, I would suggest using a paint sealer like the Krylon Make It Last!® Clear Sealer or the Blair Gloss Spray... I wouldn't use hairspray just because it may make the tape dispenser sticky and you really don't want something on your desk attracting dust. I've also heard that hairspray may eat through the acrylic over time - haven't tried it myself so I can't say this from experience. I didn't have any paint sealer and this was a last-minute project, so I have left it unsealed for now. I made about 4-5 coats and at this point it'll take a lot to scratch off... hopefully.
Voila! You got yourself a fun, fashionable and ~practical~ addition on your desk to show your co-workers just how crazy about Loubs you are! :)

Filene's Basement Closing
So I went to the Union Square one first today cuz I got a 20% off coupon from signing up for their Fan Club and I usually find more stuff at that location.
And I did.

Berlin in Awakening Blue, Retail $250 --> now $64
It was marked down from $130 to $80, which went down to $64 with my 20% off coupon.
I'm not sure if I'm keeping it. I've been wanting skinny black jeans with blue threading, but I'm not so sure that the fading is what I want. I found a pair of jet black J Brand skinnies that were on clearance down to $30 which SURPRISED ME. I tried them on and realized why. GIANT HOLE UNDER THE ZIPPER. It pretty much went all the way from the bottom of the zipper to the bottom of the bum. Sadface.
Then I went over to the 18th Street Filene's and found out it was CLOSING FOREVER (another case of lost lease/increased rent)!
And I found yet ANOTHER pair of Rock's.

Kurt in Voracious Blue, Retail $280 --> now $64
Flap pockets with lime green R's. Same price as the other pair since everything in the store was 20% off. They wouldn't take my 20% off coupon though. That would've been too awesome. And obviously, no returns for this pair since the store is closing.
So yeah, should I keep the black pair?

Holiday Shopping = SEQUINS!
My bestest friend in the world went to the J.Crew Clearance Outlets in VA this weekend and scored me these three awesomely shiny cardigans:

J.Crew Sequin tuxedo cardigan, Retail: $110 --> Now: $24

J.Crew Shimmering constellation cardigan, Retail: $128 --> Now: $30
(I also got it in gray during last month's final sale for $62. Wish I waited!)

J.Crew Beaded neck city tee cardigan, Retail: $49 --> Now: $16
I went to the J.Crew on 16th Street and 5th Ave today hoping to find the two things that have alluded me this entire final sale season - the J.Crew Dream sequin rumpled ribbon cardigan and the Slub cotton sequin-snowflake tee (Retail: $45 --> Now: $21), both of which were there! I admit, the prices were steeper than I would've liked, but I finally found them so I wasn't gonna let them go.

J.Crew Dream sequin rumpled ribbon cardigan, Retail: $158 --> Now: $70
I also went to the SEVENTH J.Crew sample sale that started today. It wasn't as bad as the previous ones as this time they actually had things I liked. However, the prices were still a bit pricey. I would've loved to get some brown leather riding boots, but they were all $169. :o( They had Madewell and CrewCuts merch as well. I found some tees with beading and the flower tanks thinking that they were included in the for 2 for $20 deal (for tees/tanks/polos), but apparently since they have embellishments, they weren't considered "plain" - making them $30 each - more than retail or at least close to it. I found a lot of sweaters & cardis I would've loved to get (They were only $35 or $75 if they had 50% cashmere or more), but everything I liked had SLASHES IN THE BACK. Some evil soul literally slashed beautiful clothing with a box cutter.
I ended up getting the ink dot dress I fell in love with this summer. As you all know, the one that actually hit stores was white with navy dots and it came with a belt of the same fabric (you can see additional pics on this blog entry). I GOT THE WHITE SAMPLE WITH COBALT DOTS THAT NEVER MADE IT TO STORES. Cobalt's my favorite color, if you couldn't tell from the caps lock. I did wish it came with the belt, but I'll most likely be wearing a cardi over it and use one of my many skinny belts from J.Crew.

J.Crew Ink Dot Printed Claudine Dress, Retail: $148 --> Now: $60 (Still a bit steep, but it's been going for around that price on ebay and well.. MY COBALT ONE IS THE ONLY ONE ON EARTH. lol)

So I finally gave in and got it.
Archos 605 30 gb with GPS, MSRP $400

Got it on ebay from a guy who upgraded to the 160 gb. The best part? He's throwing in the GPS dock AND bought all the WiFi plug-ins (which pretty much saves me about $200) SCORE. The guy hasn't sent me the shipping cost yet but the auction ended at $132. I really wasn't going to bid and save the money on a Burberry bag I've been wanting but I stupidly sent the link to Clinton 10 minutes before auction end and he was like "DOOO ITTTTT IT'S SO CHEAP OMG" lol. So I did.
The sad thing? I went to Archos' site after the fact and fell in love with the Archos 5. Only it's still way beyond my price range right now so that's all good. I've had the AV420 for almost exactly 4 years now (Clinty got it for me for our first anniversary), so it was time for an upgrade. It even plays flash videos - which the iphone/itouch can't even do. BOOYA.
Next electronic item on the agenda?
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, $799 unlocked at Best Buy

Vs.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, Not yet released, hopefully cheaper - somehow. HAHA.

I've been spending all my time since May 7th obsessing over one thing.
Star Trek.
More specifically, Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Eric Bana.
Even more specifically, SPOCK.
.
I can't begin to tell you how much money I've spent on this new obsession. But I WILL tell you that I saw it twice in IMAX as well as once on a regular screen during the sneak preview night. Oh yes, I'm THAT person.
(Fairly new) on me: J. Crew Outlet print cami, $20 and a Thomas Sabo Charm Bracelet with Chimp, ~$100

Louboutin Madness.
So for those of you in the know, I had changed my last name to 'Louboutin' on facebook. I'm hoping by my first paycheck after graduation I will be able to get a pair of these wonderfully gorgeous 'more-than-just a pair of shoes' pumps.
I would love to eventually own a pair of Anemones.

But a more practical pair would definitely be the classic Rolando's (in electric blue, of course.)

So, when I saw an ad for $149.99 Louboutin's on gofugyourself, my eyes bulged and I was ready to add pairs to my cart and click pay. As I was clicking through the site, I smelt something fishy. It was just plain too good to be true. With some research, I found my instincts were right on the money. I'm not going to provide the link to this site, but if you google "$149.99" and "Louboutin" you'll find the site that is selling FAKE shoes has probably already tricked thousands of fashionistas since its inception. INCONCEIVABLE!
Oh wells. Guess I'll just have to keep saving my pennies for my fantasy pair of shoes.

OMG. Too cute.
I just HAVE to share this picture. How cute is she?
Since we're on the topic of bags (kind of),
I found one yesterday that made me want to rob a bank.
The Marc Jacobs Stam Swarovski shoulder bag.
For a whopping $2400. God, why do designers do this to me?

I just want to hug it for the rest of my life..
hoping that none of the crystals fall off.
